Autumn has long been synonymous with a wardrobe shift towards black. Reliable, moody, and just a little predictable. Year after year, I found myself coasting through the colder months in a uniform of dark knits, darker denim, and the same oversized coat, quietly waiting for spring to arrive.

But this year, I made a quiet pact with myself: no more black. Mostly because I have stopped bleaching my hair, and with that went the blonde-hair-black-outfit dynamic I once relied on. So this will be my first autumn in years without a wardrobe dominated by that one overused shade.
